5 years on from the London 2012 Olympics

It's been 5 years since the London 2012 Olympics where Beth Tweddle Gymnastics (formerly Total Gymnastics) Director, Beth Tweddle made history becoming the first GB female to win an Olympic medal, taking a bronze on bars at the London 2012 Games.

It's a fantastic achievement that has gone on to live through Beth's Beth Tweddle Gymnastics (formerly Total Gymnastics) and Gym Stars programmes, with a mission to give every child the opportunity to get involved in gymnastics, and to realise their own potential.

Beth said when reflecting on her experience 5 years ago, "London 2012 was a dream come true. The Olympics is every athletes dream, but to have it on home soil and realise your dream in front of a home crowd and of course all of your family and friends, it is a moment I will never forget.

I can still remember that day like it was yesterday and I can't believe how quickly the past 5 years have gone.

The memories I have to treasure from that day are amazing. I was lucky enough to be back in the Olympic Park yesterday, 5 years to the day that I won my Olympic medal watching the World Athletics championships and it brought back so many great memories seeing the athletes achieving their goals.

The past 5 years have been a rollercoaster and I will always use those key skills that helped me to achieve my dream as an athlete in my everyday life.

They include determination, commitment, and will-power. Gymmastics taught me more than just how to win a medal and my passion now is to encourage young children and show them that they can achieve their dreams no matter how big or small they are."

Amazing words from Beth. Just as gymnastics showed her that she could achieve her dreams 5 years ago and still to this day, it's exactly the ethos that lives within Beth Tweddle Gymnastics (formerly Total Gymnastics).
