To really confirm how booming gymnastics is in the UK, the decision by the Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG) for Liverpool to host the event was unanimous, after a strong bid by British Gymnastics, Liverpool City Council and UK Sport.

The Championships will be held at the Echo Arena over 10 days and is expected to be one of the biggest sporting events that have ever been held at Liverpool. It’s estimated that an impressive 600 gymnasts from 90 countries will be taking part.

Beth shared her excitement of the announcement: It is fantastic news to see Liverpool win the bid to host the World Gymnastics Championships 2022. It’s an amazing opportunity to see the world’s top gymnasts on our doorstep on the journey to the 2024 Olympics.

I have experience competing at the Echo Arena and Liverpool crowds are passionate and knowledgeable and I loved performing in front of a home crowd.

I can’t wait to watch the competition and I really hope it inspires the young gymnasts around the country to believe in their own dreams.’

It’s going to be a huge event for British gymnastics, as well as for children across the UK who will get to see such world class talent come to Britain in a celebration of gymnastics.
