Kirkby High School

Kirkby is a school located in North Liverpool catering for pupils both boys and girls aged 11-16 years old. It is one of our "hub" academies and uses both the Beth Tweddle Gym Stars and Beth Tweddle Total Gymnastics Academies programmes. The venue caters for ages 4+ both boys and girls.

Equipment
 
Kirkby High School has an abundance of equipment for us to run our sessions including floor mats, crash mats, springboard and trampette vaults, benches and high, middle and low beams
 
Directions to the gym
 
From the M57 turn onto Valley Road, then turn right onto Bewley Drive. Take the third right onto Bracknell Avenue and the school is on your right. Turn into the car park on your right. Enter the main entrance at the school and reception will let them through with one of the coaches. 
 
Session details
 
Gym Stars: The children will be working through our Gym Stars programme using badges 6-14 for Bright Stars and badges 8-14 for Shooting Stars. We aim for them to achieve one award per 10-12 week term with one skill being marked as achieved each week in their progress booklets.
 
'HUB' Academy: The children will be working through the British Gymnastics Proficiency Awards and the Advanced Proficiency Awards. Gymnasts will begin at badge 8 pending an assessment from their personal coach within the first few weeks. 
 
Monday, Thursday and Friday all gymnasts to enter the hall using the far door around the back of the hall. After each session finished the coaches will then open the doors and dismiss the children 1 by 1
 
Tuesday sessions Children will enter the hall through the door at the side of the venue. After each session finished the coaches will then open the doors and dismiss the children 1 by 1
 
Saturday sessions - Children will enter the building via the main entrance of the school. After the sessions are finished our coaches will dismiss the gymnast 1 by 1 via the sports hall door.
 
First session
 
Parents can stay for the first session should they wish to do so, however after the first session they will not be permitted to stay as the coaches will require the gymnasts full attention at all times during the session. 
 
Clothing/Jewellery
 
Gymnasts should wear a t-shirt and shorts, leggings/tracksuit bottoms or a leotard if they so wish. No jewellery is permitted, long hair should be tied back of their face. All earrings must be removed and if this is not possible then they must be tapped up. They should always bring a drink to their sessions.
 
Progress Booklet
 
They must also bring along their progress booklet as this is where the coaches will record their progress and mark off what skills have been achieved. If the gymnast loses their progress booklet, a new one must be purchased at a cost of £3.50 so please ensure they are kept safe.
