An emotional Beth signs off from Rio
Team GB will inspire a new generation of gymnasts, I’m so proud of them all!
Wow, just wow! I cannot put into words how much yesterday means to our sport.
It was an honour to be in the arena and see the boys producing their magic, it was just a really special night. Yesterday was absolutely insane. I can't really put into context how brilliant Max's two performances were yesterday. In the build up to the games I knew he had a chance, but to win 2 gold medals was breathtaking.
I think I was more emotional hearing the anthem for Great Britain last night than I was for my own medal in London 2012!
The most exciting thing for me is that this will inspire a new generation of gymnasts, especially when it comes to boys trying out gymnastics. It has been quite difficult in the past to recruit boys to a sport that can sometimes be unfairly perceived as ‘female orientated'
Also a huge congratulations to Louis Smith, 3 individual Olympic medals on this piece of apparatus in the past 3 Olympic Games. That is an absolutely fantastic achievement and a credit to him and his coach and everyone around who has supported him.
After Max and Louis's displays we should see a huge influx of children trying the sport I love.
It has always been my vision since I retired from gymnastics to get children up and down the country to “give it a go”. As I’ve said countless times, it’s not only great exercise but it’s a place to make lifelong friends and have lots of fun along the road.
Huge congratulations to Max, I have followed his progress through the junior ranks up until the current day, and I couldn’t be prouder!
Below are some opportunities for a FREE gymnastics session for your child.
