50 days and counting to Rio - Beth talks us through what the gymnasts will be feeling!

The gymnasts are now just days from the biggest competition of their life!

In my lead up to the Olympics I was training around 30 hours a week preparing for trials to make the Olympic team.

Some of the British gymnasts have just been competing out in Bern at the Europeans Championships which was a real success for the Mens and Womens senior teams coming home with a total of 7 medals including 2 European champions, Rebecca Downie and Nile Wilson.

They will be feeling a mixture of emotions.

Some days you feel on top of the world and some days can be really tough and test your character to get up and carry on when things aren’t quite going to plan.

To be an Olympic athlete is a dream come true and something that most athletes dream of for many years.

The next few weeks will consist of finalising your preparations and doing the final trials. It’s very nervy time not only for the gymnasts but also their personal coaches and their families.

Every part of my life leading up to the Games was based around my Olympic Dream.

There are only 5 places on each of the Men’s and Women’s Olympic team and there is around 10-15 gymnasts competing for each team. It is a tough few weeks and there is everything to play for right up until that selection is announced.
