What a fantastic way to finish off these Olympic Games here in Rio, 2 more medals to add to our tally.
Amy Tinkler representing the girls last night by winning bronze was a highlight. She is only the 2nd ever female gymnast to win an individual Olympic medal**
This leaves our final tally at 7 medals; by far our best ever Olympics!
The support for these gymnasts has been incredible and there are so many people behind the scenes that ensure that these results are possible. These include the personal coaches, the national coaches, British gymnastics, the support staff and so many others. Not to mention the families that have supported these gymnasts on their journey to achieve their Olympic dreams.
My excitement now turns to the next stage of our gymnastics journey in this country. There will be literally thousands of young children watching the TV wanting to imitate and even beat their heroes.
With 10 million watching Max Whitlock picking up gold we have a captive audience to encourage to try gymnastics, which has always been my dream! That’s why I have asked out team to create over 1,000 new places across our 21 venues for young boys and girls to try the sport they have watched - and that I love.
