Gymnastics participant figures up 700,000 in 2016

The latest Sport England figures have just been released, with gymnastics enjoying unprecedented success. There are 13,400 more people taking part in gymnastics on a weekly basis compared to 2015.

The boom in gymnastics has a variety of reasons from the great success that Team GB achieved in Rio this summer to the improvement of gymnastics facilities across the UK.

Our director and Britain’s most successful female gymnast, Beth Tweddle is delighted with the latest figures:

“It’s fantastic to see the sport I love going from strength to strength!

A lot of credit must go to Team GB who inspired so many people with their performances in Rio, so a big thanks to Max and the team. But I’d also like to thank my team at Beth Tweddle Gymnastics (formerly Total Gymnastics) who have worked tirelessly this year to promote gymnastics not just to parents but also to schools. We have expanded our membership by 1,000 and now teach over 2,100 children a week, we are also teaching gymnastics in over 70 schools across the UK.

We are expecting for even greater participation numbers in 2017, so watch this space!”

If your child would like to try gymnastics, check out the availability in your area.
