We can confirm that Beth Tweddle Gymnastics (formerly Total Gymnastics) will attending the grand opening of Everyone Active's (SLM) newest centre, Westminster Lodge, St Albans on Saturday 10th November at 10.00am. To make this event extra special we will accompanied by none other than Double Olympic Medallist Max Whitlock, who will be helping make this opening event a great success.

Max will be helping our very own Emma Slater, Academy Development Manager run a gymnastics session which will available to so very lucky children from the local schools and Max will also be showing off his fantastic gymnastics ability through an unique inspiring floor display.

Double Olympic Bronze Medalist

Max has long been one of the rising stars of his sport following in the footsteps of team mate Louis Smith. An all- around gymnast, Max’s favourite apparatus is the pommel horse where he has repeatedly shown he can compete with the World’s best.

Max burst through to the senior ranks in October 2010 at the Commonwealth where, he was part of Men’s team to took home the silver medal. Individually, Max also won silver on the pommel horse and bronze in the horizontal bars at the same Games.

Over the next 2 years Max’s career went from strength to strength adding difficulty to his routines and gaining experience with every event. By 2012, Max was showing real potential which he demonstrated as part of the victorious team winning European Gold in Montpelier. This was the first time the British men had ever been crowned European Champions. Next up the same team placed second at the London Prepares Olympic test event. Max's contribution to the team was huge going clean on all six pieces of apparatus. At the same event Max claimed the bronze medal in the Pommel Horse final.

The highlight of Max’s career, so far, came at his first Olympics in 2012. One of the history boys, Max was again on the podium receiving a team medal, the first time in over 100 years the British men have won a team Olympic medal. Max's Olympics was not over and not prepared to settle for one bronze he qualified for the Pommel horse final. Once again he went clean and finished 3rd behind team mate Louis Smith and World Champion Kristian Berki. Two bronze medals from his first Olympics, Max has a bright future and will be looking to add to his medal tally in Rio.
